K and J type ceramic braided thermocouple cables are specialized cables designed for temperature measurement in high-temperature environments. They are commonly used in industrial applications where accurate and reliable temperature monitoring is essential.
The "K" and "J" refer to the thermocouple types that these cables are compatible with. The K-type thermocouple is made of chromel (nickel-chromium alloy) and alumel (nickel-aluminum alloy), while the J-type thermocouple is made of iron and constantan (copper-nickel alloy). These thermocouples generate a voltage proportional to the temperature difference between their measuring junction and the reference junction.
Ceramic braided thermocouple cables are constructed with a central conductor pair made of the appropriate thermocouple alloys (chromel/alumel for K-type, iron/constantan for J-type). These conductors are insulated from each other using ceramic materials, which provide electrical isolation and high-temperature resistance. The insulation ensures that the thermocouple wires do not come into direct contact with each other, as that would affect the accuracy of temperature measurement.
